Ryan Mark Romero was born in Port Angeles, WA on October 18, 1981 to his proud parents Mark and Shelley Romero. Ryan's life ended at the age of 36 in a boating accident on February 17, 2018.
Ryan attended Crescent School through the 8th grade and then attended Port Angeles High School graduating with the class of 2000. Ryan attended Peninsula College and graduated with a technical degree in welding.
At the age of 5, Ryan discovered soccer and it became a passion of his and his entire family. He played for the Port Angeles Youth Soccer Club for the Goal Busters, the DARE tournament team and the Image Soccer Team. The Image team traveled to Europe twice to participate in international tournaments. Ryan also played on the PAHS Varsity soccer team from 1997–2000 and on the inaugural Peninsula College soccer team from 2001-2002. Through soccer Ryan developed deep connections with his teammates making life-long friendships. Ryan's presence, brilliant smile and contagious laugh made his friendships stronger and the team better.
Ryan worked for Freshwater Bay Landscape & Nursery, Morrison Excavating, Zink Salvage and he most recently worked as a commercial crabber. Ryan worked with a purpose and had a work ethic matched by few. Ryan was also a proud member of the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe.
Ryan enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and jet skiing at Lake Sutherland with his family and friends. He spent countless summers camping at Deep Creek where he developed his love of crabbing. He felt at peace at Deep Creek where his favorite place to be was on the water at sunrise.
Ryan was a beautiful and gracious soul who gave endlessly to others. He was incredibly kind and respectful with a mega-watt smile and an infectious laugh. Ryan lit up a room with his warmth and presence. Those who knew and loved Ryan were better people for it.
Ryan is loved and survived by his parents Mark and Shelley Romero, his brother Michael (Devon) Romero, niece Alyssa Romero, nephews Brody and Killian Romero, grandpa Darrel Vincent, sister Carissa (Wes) Fallan, aunts Joanna (Ed) Blacksmith, Teri (Kit) Swanberg, Karen Shay, Kathy (Vern) Daugaard, Debra (Mark) Jagger, uncles William (Joanne) Armintrout, Ray (Ilene) Armintrout, William Hopie, Bob Roberts and Troy (Janine) Romero. Ryan had numerous cousins and second cousins who adored "Uncle Ryan."
Waiting for Ryan in heaven are his grandparents Richard Davidson, DeFayne Davidson and Mari Hopie Romero; uncle Greg Romero and aunts Ronnie Romero and Trudi Roberts.
Ryan's celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 1:00pm at the Lower Elwha Tribal Center, 2851 Lower Elwha Rd, Port Angeles.
