Shirley Mae Foley, 83, passed away peacefully at her Port Angeles home surrounded by loved ones on September 13, 2016.
Shirley was born September 27, 1932 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Leo and Ruth Smasal. She was the fourth of their eight children. The family moved to Port Angeles when Shirley was in middle school and in 1950 she graduated from Port Angeles High School. After high school she went to work as a bookkeeper for an auto dealership.
She was married December 27, 1951 to John Foley. With the birth of their first child in 1954, she became a devoted stay at home mom to their 4 children.
Shirley was a member of Queen of Angels parish and was active in a guild and in school activities. She also helped with Camp Fire Girls and Cub Scouts. In 1989 Shirley and her oldest daughter owned and operated Angeles Video until 2005. She also loved to attend and follow her children's, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren's sporting events and activities. A family gathering would not have been complete without Shirley's baked beans and chocolate fudge brownies that everyone loved.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years in 2012, and her mother and father, and brothers Cliff, Jerry, and Thomas, sisters Mary and Bea and grandson Zachary Davidson.
She is survived by sisters Annabelle (Ron) Wasnock of Port Angeles and Patty (Gary) Bovey of Mulikteo, Wa. Daughters Michelle (Guy) Madison, Jennifer (Fred) Petty of Port Angeles, sons Michael (Veronica) Foley of Portland, Or., and Patrick (Monica) Foley of Davenport, Iowa. She will also be greatly missed by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
