Betty Jean DoonanAugust 21, 1923 ~ April 26, 2016 (age 92)
Betty Doonan, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 26, 2016 in Johnson City, TN. She was surrounded by her family throughout a recent illness. Betty moved to Johnson City from Port Angeles in 2012 to be close to her son Michael and his wife Jenny. She quickly made friends and was often seen with Jenny’s Sisters at good old southern events such as the International Story Telling Festival, Bluegrass Music Sessions and she loved her newly adopted southern cuisine. Just like in Port Angeles, Betty was loved by all she met. Her sweet, gentle and generous way always brought smiles to those she touched.
Betty was born on February 27, 1928 in Port Angeles. She graduated from Port Angeles High School and lived most of her life in the city. She began her work career in retail at F. W. Woolworth, but eventually became known as the smiling face at the Port Angeles Vision Clinic. She joined the Clinic in its early years as a sole receptionist, but over the years she became the business’ office manager. She loved her job, the people she work with and most importantly the Clinics patients, who she considered her personal friends.
Betty was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located in Port Angeles. She dearly loved the Church’s Mission and considered the membership her family.
Betty’s services will take place this Saturday, April 30, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 591 Monroe Rd. Port Angeles. Visitation is at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.

She is survived by her brother Jack Lafeman, her son Michael Ray and his wife Jenny Brock. She is also survived by four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
